Class Description: Observation, documentation, and evaluating plants in the landscape is a critical process to broadening or adopting a new plant pallet. During this three-hour workshop held at the Theodore Payne Foundation students will engage with a variety of plant material including annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, and grasses. This field-based course will help expand your understanding of the diversity of plants in California and their uses and needs in the landscape. This class is open to alumni from the California Native Plant Landscaper Certification (CNPLC).
Materials Needed for Class: If possible, students should bring a smart phone with iNaturalist installed and ready to use for class. You may also consider brining your set of native plant flashcards and a way to take notes. The course involves walking around our property on steep and sometimes uneven terrain in potentially hot weather. Please come prepared.
